Key Points – Friday, May 12, 2017:
Synopsis: Good Friday morning! Finally a nice stretch of drier and warmer weather ahead through the weekend into early next week, will be nice to get out and enjoy it for sure. The pattern shifts fairly quickly, however, getting into later Tuesday and beyond next week back to active with storm chances…although still very warm with consistent highs in the 80s expected. All the details packed in the video, have a great weekend!
Current Radar…southern half of the forecast area going to be dealing with some clouds and some showers from the low pressure to the south. Sunshine will be possible later today.
Showers and clouds will eventually exit south and east throughout the day, giving way to a nice day:
Can’t rule out a little patchy fog especially across eastern Indiana, southeastern Michigan into Ohio Saturday morning.
We warm up a few degrees every day going forward, here’s a look at temperatures from normal over the next 10 days…this will result in the 80s next week.
The pattern next week is very tricky, your free weather apps will say it’s dry Tuesday and beyond. However, we know we get in on a southwest flow with some energy present which means we need to be looking for storms as discussed in the video. Below is precipitation from normal in the 6-10 day, a very wet signal…not sure how dry we stay even across Indiana and Ohio as the data suggests.
New Euro Weeklies came out with a look we’ve seen consistently since March…this is over the next 46 days…don’t take the rainfall totals verbatim, the takeaway here is the pattern remains active continuing through May and into June across the Midwest.
Confidence and Risk:
- Average risk for some patchy fog Saturday morning across eastern Indiana and western Ohio locations.
- Above average to high confidence we start a warming trend this weekend into next week with highs getting consistently into the 80s by mid-next week.
- Average confidence on the specifics, but the pattern looks to turn back to active with storms later Tuesday night and beyond getting in on a southwest flow.
