Total rainfall the next 60 hours is below. Given the multiple bouts of rainfall work in with some strong storms possible, we think where it rains we can expect a base of 0.5-1.5″. However, we do agree with the model as well that some areas may see an excess of 2-3″+:
Latest strong storm risks for Friday shows the potential for severe storms and very heavy rainfall across portions of the state. We think an enhanced risks across western Iowa can’t be ruled out. The main threats being damaging winds, heavy rainfall, isolated large hail and isolated tornadoes:
We have a concern about flooding potential over the next 2 weeks across the state given the stout rainfall signal starting to show up here, with consistent moisture flowing along the periphery of the ridge to the east. This needs watched closely as we start preparing for harvest:
