8-22-19 Northern Plains: Targeting widespread rains this weekend-Monday….unseasonably cool next week. N.

Today’s video:

Expecting another dry day area-wide…expecting coverage to increase mainly across far western ND after midnight tonight, pushing further east throughout Friday morning. These showers redevelop and push across the eastern half of the Dakotas late Friday night into Saturday from west to east as well. Here’s our favored rainfall totals in this period through Saturday night. Very dry across the eastern third of the Dakotas through Minnesota, with the black line noting where we favor scattered totals of 0.25-0.75″ (locally 0.75-1.5″ as well embedded):

Rainfall picks up, however, in a big way for Minnesota the 2nd half of Sunday into Monday from west to east as the low pressure system slowly swings across this part of the forecast region. Rainfall totals when it’s all said-and-done that we favor the 2nd half of Friday through Monday is below, pushing in fairly widespread 0.5-1.5″ across the eastern half the Dakotas through much of MN. Although, some areas south and east of MN look to miss out on the heaviest rain here, more like 0.1-0.5″ scattered:
