8-15-19 Nebraska/Kansas: Discussing additional heavy storm chances late tonight east & very warm/drier conditions into early next week. K.

Today’s video:

Observed rainfall over the past 24 hours was quite heavy (as anticipated) in west-central Nebraska:

Here’s our favored simulated radar solution regarding how the precipitation chances develop later today into the overnight…favoring additional flooding risks and very heavy rainfall after sunset tonight into early Friday morning especially across NE Kansas; otherwise, just some very scattered storm development across our far western locations tonight:

Favored total rainfall through Friday evening is below…favoring the heaviest bit of rainfall of 1.5-3.0″ (isolated higher totals likely) and flash flooding risks SE of Lincoln, east of Concordia near Hiawatha, KS to Kansas City…locations across eastern CO to far western KS and western NE can anticipate widely scattered 0.25-0.75″ with isolated higher totals possible in any stronger storms that may develop (many still stay drier here):

Very warm air settles in across the area for the SW Plains especially this weekend into early next week…frequenting many upper 90 to low 100º days especially in Kansas…here’s a look at temps vs normal that reflect this well as the ridge of high pressure flexes:

Total rainfall guidance through early next week is below…again, most if not all of this falling today through Friday, the forecast turning much later getting deeper through our Saturday into Tuesday of next week. Again, the heaviest rainfall likely to be found in far SE Nebraska to NE Kansas in the short-term:
