8-14-19 Kansas/Nebraska: Eyeing another potent storm cluster risk for Thursday…turning warmer/drier in the medium range. K.

Today’s video:

Observed rainfall over the past 24 hours was pretty widespread across the western third of our area seeing ~0.5-1.5″ with localized higher totals of 2-3″ noted as well near the KS/CO borders:

Here’s a snapshot of where we expect isolated storm development today mid-afternoon through the evening…areas further east will remain overall dry today with very nice weather:

Total rainfall potential today will be boom or bust, west…generally a quick 0.25-0.75″ is possible, but where the severe storms develop a quick, 1.0-1.5″ can’t be ruled out (isolated, not widespread):

The bigger totals come Thursday as a storm cluster makes its way northwest to southeast, with additional heavy rainfall risks re-emerging late Thursday into early morning Friday…we’ve highlighted 2 areas specifically where we favor locally 1-2″+ through Friday morning. These areas can still shift around 1-2 counties based on the exact placement of the clusters so make sure to check back often as we fine-tune this:
