7-8-19 Nebraska: Short Term Update through Tuesday evening.V.

Good Monday afternoon!

A quick look at radar as of 6 PM Central. We are seeing a decent amount of coverage across the state with two main bands, the larger line set up over the central parts of the state and the second line just crossing into Nebraska from the W. Both of these lines are working SW to NE:

Our main focus this evening is on the areas in the W and Central parts of the state as seen on radar. These lines will continue to push their way E overnight and into the early morning hours tomorrow. Here is a simulated radar loop from 9 PM Central tonight until 7 AM Tuesday morning:

The area outlined in red is where we think the heaviest rains and most severe weather can occur tonight and into the overnight hours. Flash flooding and high wind gusts will be the two main threats of severe weather, however large and isolated tornadoes cannot be ruled out:

After these storms work their way out tomorrow in the morning, we are looking at a generally dry day barring a few scattered pop ups that would most likely occur in the NW part of the state. High temps tomorrow will be the focus with highs right around 90 for much of the state:

A look at rainfall guidance through tomorrow afternoon at 1 PM. While these numbers should not be taken exactly, the focus for the heaviest rains will come in the middle part of Nebraska. Current thought is that 1.0 to 2.0 inches will fall for much of the Central portions of NE with amounts locally higher where the strongest cells set up. We also think this model is underplaying totals in the W portions of the state as these could be closer to 0.5 to 1 inch and more widespread amounts than what the model is suggesting:
