7-31-18 Northern Plains: Warmer today with scattered showers/storms possible this evening. B.

Today’s Video:

Good Tuesday morning everyone!

A very quiet morning across the region with clear skies. A front will begin to push south later in the day. Temperatures will warm up into the 90s in spots ahead of that front!

Some showers could start to develop between 1 and 5PM this afternoon, with the better shot of some thunderstorms this evening. Overall, these storms will be a bit more scattered in nature especially in North Dakota, with a broken line of storms possible in Northern Minnesota:

Localized rain totals of 0.5-1.0″ possible, but generally scattered 0.1″-0.25″ of rainfall possible especially in North-Central/Eastern Minnesota.

Re-development is likely tomorrow morning in East-Central Minnesota including Minneapolis where rain showers can develop in response to a strengthening low-level jet:

Additional re-development is possible late tomorrow afternoon/evening for the southern few rows of counties in Minnesota. Scattered in nature again, but a few storms could be on the stronger side.

Cooler weather likely behind the frontal passage tomorrow, with heat building in the west as we get into the weekend:

With this warmth, storm chances will begin to increase as we head into the weekend as southwest flow develops aloft. Late and overnight clusters of storms are certainly on the table for the Eastern Dakotas and Minnesota into next week:
