7-26-19 Iowa/Nebraska/Kansas/Missouri: Hit/miss storm risks over the next 7 days…+ trends into early Aug. N.

Video:

Rain over the past 24 hours:

We will watch parts of west-central and northern Nebraska for pop-up storms this afternoon and tonight, which could bring localized heavy rain and brief severe with hail/wind – area circled in the “marginal” severe risk.

Total rainfall through tonight:

Total rainfall now through Sunday 1pm: We’ll target northwest Nebraska for another strong storm risk Saturday afternoon and night, where the most widespread rains are expected this weekend.  The more concentrated rainfall will shift north from there in South Dakota and Minnesota, meaning the rest of our area just gets very scattered activity at best Sunday-Monday AM as the front pushes through.

Here is a global model output for precipitation through Monday….it is likely underdone in NW Nebraska….if you are there I would refer to the map above which only goes to 1pm Sunday.  Other-wise, I think this rainfall forecast below is reasonable in showing that coverage will be very hit and miss with this front, and some stay dry.

Temperature anomaly forecast for next week:

Be sure to check out the video for more info on possible rain chances Tuesday into Wednesday….building heat in the western plains next week, + cooler risks in the eastern half of the area in early August.
