Good Tuesday afternoon!
Here is a look at current radar as of 4:15 PM CT. As mentioned yesterday and earlier today, most of the rain is staying in the Northern parts of MN with a line extending down through the MN/WI border :
The positioning of the low for the next 16 hours. The center of our low is currently situated in the NW part of ND and is going to continue to work its way ENE this afternoon and through the overnight hours. This will slowly drag our precipitation E as we work into our Wednesday:
Below is a snapshot of simulated radar for your rush hour commute at 7 AM Wednesday. Our low is near the MN/CAN border at this time and will hold much of the precip to the northern portions of the state:
Tomorrow afternoon should bring a needed break from the rain for most of the state as we are expecting the low to continue working NE and provide us with an opportunity to dry out as the day goes on. Here is a a look at simulated radar from 7 AM CT tomorrow morning until 7 PM CT tomorrow. We will likely see some “wrap around” showers and storms in the afternoon from the low as it slides out, however this does not look to be a widespread, heavy rain event. This should be primarily focused in the Northern half of MN, but a very scattered shower or storm in the southern half cannot be totally ruled out:
Here is a look at rainfall guidance through Wednesday evening. As mentioned, the majority of the rainfall is going to take place in the northern half of the state. Much of what is being shown for the southern half is coming from the band working its way through the SE parts of the state right now. Amounts will really vary, but we think a general 0.50 to 1.00 inches for the NW parts with locally higher amounts where the heaviest of the rain bands set up. The SE could be looking at another 0.25 to 0.75 inches, again with amounts higher under the heavier cells:
Wednesday should bring highs in the middle 70’s to much of the state with our Thursday right now looking to stay dry:
