Good morning! Here’s the latest 7-day forecast:
We expect another round of widely scattered storms to develop this afternoon/evening (main threat between 12pm-9pm EDT) mainly along and south of I-70 which could potentially impact this evening’s game. Coverage with today’s storms appear to hover around 30%. While the severe weather threat is expected to remain minimal today, I can’t rule out a few storms becoming strong to severe with heavy rainfall, gusty winds, and small hail. There are a few isolated pockets of showers/storms working into southwest OH currently and I expect this trend to increase heading into the afternoon hours. Temperatures during this evening’s first pitch will be dependent on convection in the area. If it fails to rain at the ballpark, which is possible given the hit or miss nature of these storms, temperatures will be in the low-mid 80s. Storm coverage will decrease substantially late evening. Shown below is the NAM3km simulated radar through 8am EDT Sunday:
Pop-up showers/storms are possible as a result of daytime heating Sunday afternoon and evening. Storm coverage likely will remain between 15-20% during this time across the area. Localized downpours are possible if any of these pop-ups track over the ballpark. Storm activity should wane by 9pm EDT. Temperatures during tomorrow’s first pitch are expected to be around 84ºF. The NSSL simulated radar from 8am EDT through 8pm EDT Sunday is shown below.
The next best shot for rain looks to come into the area early Thursday morning as an upper-level low pressure system works into the region. I want to preface that the American GFS model is weaker with its solution. The risk is high for the models to switch back and forth so some fine-tuning will be needed as this event nears.
