5-14-18 Northern Plains: Scattered rain/storms today into tomorrow… watching a late week storm system. B.

Today’s Video:

Good Monday morning everyone!

A few scattered showers have developed on the radar this morning in portions of South Dakota:

We’ll likely see additional showers and storms develop throughout the day today throughout portions of the area with a heavier cluster possible overnight tonight for Southern Minnesota.

Some will miss out on rain risks today and warm up into the 70s throughout much of the area with nighttime lows over the next few nights staying quite warm!

Shower and storm activity will pick back up late Wednesday into Thursday as instability and southerly flow builds. However, the main time to watch will be late Thursday into the weekend as a system develops and works through the area.

This could produce an swath of precipitation throughout the area. Here’s a look at total precipitation over the next 7 days from the ICON model (note the model is likely undergoing precipitation with tonight’s storm clusters):

Here’s a look at wind gusts over the next 4 days:

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to reach out and have a great day!
