Video (5:30):

Good Monday morning!

Here’s a look at today’s weather headlines! Do want to watch out for some dense fog over portions of the area tomorrow morning (western Dakotas) and Wednesday morning (North Dakota, Eastern South Dakota, Southern Minnesota).

A few snow showers are lingering in the area this morning, but with high pressure continuing to filter into the area, these likely diminish and have very little impact today.

We have a few risks for some light snow over the next few days. The first will occur tomorrow, with amounts generally less than 0.5″.

Additional chances of wintry precipitation and rain are possible on Wednesday especially for Northern portions of the area (see video for discussion on accumulation potential).

Here’s a look at high temperatures over the next 4 days… note, some very warm temperatures out ahead of our late week system are likely especially for western portions of the area.

Winds will not be a huge issue with high pressure in the area today, but expect wind gusts to pick up later in the week especially for areas in the warm sector such as South Dakota.

Here’s a look at cloud cover over the next few days, though the model is likely overdoing the overall cloud cover a bit for today.

We’re carefully watching a very strong storm system that likely impacts the area late this week. Heavy rain, storms and very heavy snow are all on the table with this system. Strong winds are also likely. We’ll touch more on the potential accumulations and hazards in future updates.

Here’s a look at the total precipitation forecast by the European model over the next 7 days:
