We are still dealing with some light rain across SE South Dakota and the southern half of Minnesota today, pushing more into Minnesota this afternoon. Latest precipitation guidance is below, favoring a dry and very nice day across the northern Plains into our Tuesday:
A few areas in eastern SD and MN (patchy, mainly in low-lying areas) may see some fog risks in Tuesday morning as well…noted by the dark shade of color shown below which is a model forecast of visibility in miles:
Total precipitation guidance is below that we favor into late week…we mentioned in the video how we felt that this model could be too heavy on its precipitation across northern ND / MN and eastern MN as well, but felt a good risk to start with is 0.5-1.0″ in these areas, with localized pockets of higher amounts on the table. Further south and west the drier risks grow as well:
Here’s our week 1 percent of normal precipitation custom map that shows this well…if the GFS American model pans out to the solution it shows right now, we could grow more “above normal (AN)” for a good portion of the northern Plains region for week 1:
