Good Friday morning! Light snow showers will continue to track across the Dakotas and southwest Minnesota today.
Additional impulses of energy will work east into the Dakotas overnight and spread east into Minnesota on Saturday. A light wintry mix of light snow/freezing rain will be possible across South Dakota overnight. Snow showers and some light freezing rain will work in across Minnesota Saturday. A secondary disturbance works into South Dakota through the day bringing a localized area of heavier snow.
We will see an area of steadier snow work across portions of South Dakota Saturday afternoon through the evening, with lighter snow showers building across Minnesota Saturday night and Sunday morning.
The data still shows differences regarding placement and amounts of snowfall. Note the NAM 3km remains more bullish on light snow accumulations over Minnesota, as well as heavier pockets of snow across central South Dakota. This will have potential to shift a bit further northeast, as we have circled in the graphics below.
A few spots in South Dakota may see precipitation totals of a quarter to locally half-inch this weekend, but many areas see 0.15″ or less.
