11-9-19 Tovar Chicago South: Latest data on snowfall potential late Sunday into Monday. MG.

Good Evening.

Here is a look at some of the latest data that has come in this evening.  The loop below is simulated radar from 6PM Sunday through 6 PM Monday.

Here is a look at at some of the newest modeled snowfall totals out  through 6 PM Monday.  There are still some differences in the model solutions for this event, but the trend has been towards a solution such as this.  We will have to fine tune going forward.

For the Chicago area, accumulating snow will be difficult at first due to warmer temperatures on the onset of this event.  By the time we get to the 4 AM – 6 AM time frame, all of Chicago should begin to be at the freezing mark although some models hold on to above freezing temperatures longer that that shown below.  The end result will be reduced accumulations for Chicago compared to the surrounding area.  Temperatures will drop from north to south, allowing for areas such as Waukegan to see a better chance for more accumulating snow.

Temperature will continue to drop throughout the day on Monday.  By the time we get to around 6 AM Tuesday morning, temperatures will be very cold.  Here is a look at modeled temperatures around 6 AM Tuesday.

Here is a look at wind gust from 6 PM Sunday through 6 PM Monday.  Wind will generally be out of the north.  We will be dealing with wind gust around the 25 – 30 MPH during this event.
