Today’s Video:
Good Friday morning everyone. Light snow showers and flurries are mixing with rain showers throughout portions of the region. We did have a few isolated areas pick up an inch or two of snow, but this system is coming in weaker overall than originally anticipated. However, we will continue these scattered light snow showers, eventually changing to rain, throughout much of the day:
As we working into the late afternoon hours, precipitation will break out in Western ND with rain changing to snow leading to accumulating snowfall especially in Western ND. This system pushes east and southeast throughout the evening and overnight hours, with scattered snow activity continuing into tomorrow morning as rain persists throughout Eastern South Dakota and into Southern Minnesota tomorrow.
Here’s a look at our snowfall forecast for this event. Confidence remains lower than normal in Eastern ND due to varying model solutions and mixing issues, but we do feel good that there will be a band of heavier snow in SW/W ND which could lead to 2-4″+ of snowfall accumulation this evening and overnight:
Here’s a look at total precipitation though 7PM Saturday:
This system will continue to push off to the south and east and strengthen Saturday night as it turns back to the north leading to rain chances in Southern and Eastern Minnesota Sunday with some snow mixing in on the north side. We could see more snow develop late Sunday in far NE Minnesota with additional snowfall accumulations possible:
We’ll see a weak wave Monday/Tuesday with some scattered rain, possibly scattered snow showers with wrap around snow showers on Wednesday and some additional snow accumulations possible in Northern Minnesota.
