11-13-18 Northern Plains: Quiet weather today… warming up mid-week with a snow chance Friday. B.

Today’s Video:

Good Tuesday morning everyone! Another quiet start to the day with temperatures dropping below zero in Northern Minnesota this morning. Here’s a look at low temperatures from this morning:

Overall, mostly clear skies are likely over the next two days:

As we work into Wednesday night, energy starts to work into far Northern ND and N. MN that could lead to some light precipitation chances – a mix of rain and snow – Wednesday night and perhaps some light snow in Northeast MN Thursday.

The next chance of snow will come on Friday as a system dives into the Dakotas and could bring a light swath of accumulating snow. Models are still quite volatile with this system, but we’d favor a weaker and further south track right now given very high pressure pushing south. The best chance of snow will likely come in the Western Dakotas, but there will likely need to be adjustments as we work closer to Friday:

We could see some patchy fog risks in low-lying areas tomorrow morning, with a better chance in Western Minnesota and SE SD on Thursday morning (though the model is likely a bit overdone).
