Good morning! Here is your latest forecast update:
Past 24 hour rainfall accumulations.
High temperatures today. A pleasant day is in store with plenty of sunshine and minimal winds.
Simulated radar from 1 AM Monday through 7 PM Monday. A few very light showers/ sprinkles will be possible. Not expecting much in the way of accumulation.
Here is a look at simulated radar from 7 PM Monday through 10 AM Tuesday. As things stand now, areas on the Iowa side of the border look to be at the highest risk for accumulating snowfall as areas such as Moline look to be mainly rain. Will have to watch how the models trend closely as the border between mostly rain/ mostly snow falls through the Quad City area. Temperatures do look to be at or just above freezing during this snow, so it may be hard for snow to accumulate on the ground. Temperatures also look to warm up as the system departs, which will help melt away any snow that can accumulate.
Here is a look at modeled temperatures from 7 PM Monday through 10 AM Tuesday. Notice that the Quad City area havers around the 34 F mark as the snow falls. However, snowfall ratios around 5:1 may help overcome these warmer temperatures for a bit, allowing for accumulation on roads, especially farther into Iowa where temperatures will be cooler.
Here is a look at high temperates TUE. Any accumulation looks to melt as temperatures look to approach 40 F.
Here is a look at low temperatures TUE night/ WED morning. Right now, temperatures look to be too warm for a refreeze potential. Will need to monitor this closely.
Here is the preferred model snowfall amounts for the late Monday/ early Tuesday snow event. The Iowa side of the border could see amounts of 2″ – 4″. A sharp cut-off exist just to the south. Will need to follow model trends closely to see how/ if this can shift any before Monday night.
