Good Friday morning!
Conditions are overall cold and dry over most of Kansas and Missouri this morning aside from a few flurries that are flying in parts of Northern Missouri. The bigger story today will be much warmer temperatures for portions of western Kansas. The warmer air mass that brings these temperatures will slowly work east over the next 48 hours.
Warm temperatures streaming over the top of cold air at the surface could lead to some freezing rain issues with this weekend. Though it is likely a bit overdone, the NAM does show this potential well. Note how precipitation will be light at first for Kansas before the system really begins to ramp up and produce heavy rain and freezing rain at times.
Watching Wednesday-Thursday of next week for a potentially stronger storm system.
Over the next two weeks we will shift out of the cold pattern we have seen and temperatures will become slightly above normal compared to average.
