Happy New Year everyone!
We are tracking some light snow falling in portions of North Dakota and Minnesota this morning.
This line of showers will dive south into northeastern portions of South Dakota, Eastern North Dakota and Minnesota. These snow showers will produce some light accumulations of generally less than one each.
Temperatures in the Dakotas will begin to moderate throughout this week, however Minnesota will remain in the ice box through Friday. Though, overnight lows will be remain quite bitter, especially in the eastern half of the Northern Plains region. Here’s a look at temperatures through Friday night:
We do have a couple of weak pieces of energy that could produce some light snow throughout the week. The most potent piece of energy will work through on Thursday which could put down a narrow band of light accumulations.
We’ll be watching a stronger system early next week that will likely produce precipitation south of the Northern Plains. Models will likely flip-flop on a potential solution for this storm throughout the week, but we’ll keep an eye on things as a north trend would bring precipitation into Minnesota and South Dakota.
As always we will continue to update our thoughts throughout the week. Have a great Tuesday!
