1-2-18 Indiana Update: Wind chill warnings/advisories in effect… snow shower chance tomorrow.

Video (6:40):

Synopsis: Good Tuesday Morning and happy New Year! The entire state is below zero this morning and wind chill advisories are in effect for the southern half of the state with wind chill warnings in effect for the northern half of the state. These are in effect until 1PM today. Wind chills will range from -10 to -30 degrees in areas where wind chill warnings are in effect. We will moderate a bit tomorrow with temperatures reaching the mid teens to lower 20s over much of the state. Along with a bit of moderation in temperatures compared to what we have seen this weekend and early this week, a chance of light snow showers is possible as a piece of energy dives into the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley region tomorrow along with a return of lake effect snow chances in northern Indiana. With these snow showers, a light coating is possible. Most of the scattered snow will exit the state by Wednesday evening, but the lake effect machine will remain ramped up into the weekend and produce several inches of snow.

Temperatures will cool back down a little bit Thursday through Saturday with lows below zero for areas with a snowpack until Sunday. However, other than parts of Northern Indiana who will receive lake effect snow, the state will be cold and dry. Here’s a look at forecast temperatures between Thursday Morning and Saturday Afternoon:

The next solid chance for precipitation comes early next week, however, there is a ton of run to run model variability at this time, so rain, snow, and mixed precipitation are all on the table late Sunday into Monday.

If you have any questions, be sure to reach out! Have a great Tuesday!
