Good Wednesday Morning! The warm-up trend continues throughout the last half of the week and into the weekend before the next storm system moves into the area Saturday night into Sunday. Today’s Video (8 min):

7AM Current Temperatures: Bitter cold continues across the Central Plains this morning with most areas seeing single digits and negative temps even in some areas of Missouri and Iowa. With these low temps and winds from the SW gusting up to 15 mph, wind chills can be expected to be in the negatives across most of the Central Plains through today:

Pretty quiet weather through the rest of this week and into the weekend. Temps continue to rise as the week progresses melting off some of the snow that’s fallen over and past week or so. Expect high temps by the end of the week to reach into the 50’s with some areas in Kansas and Missouri possibly even seeing 60 Friday through the weekend!

The next system we’re continuing to eye looks to start moving into the area Saturday night into Sunday. First rain showers look to start around 1 am Sunday across Missouri and Iowa. Snow looks to start entering Nebraska late Saturday afternoon into the early evening and will continue through Monday night. Iowa, Kansas, & Missouri should expect rain (and *possibly* some thunderstorms) through Sunday night into Monday morning before the rain transitions into snow. Snow is expected to exit Kansas, Missouri, and Iowa early Tuesday morning. We’ll keep you posted on the timing of this storm as the weekend approaches:

These are our current thoughts on the areas that we think will see mainly snow with the system this weekend into Monday. These are preliminary thoughts right now and we will adjust this map as needed and include total accumulations as we continue hone in on what we think this system will produce for these areas:

Total precipitation (both rain & snow) through this event continues to show the heaviest amounts to fall over Iowa and eastern Nebraska. Some areas in southern Kansas may not see any precipitation at all from this event but will be something we continue to monitor as more and more guidance comes in:
