Synopsis: Good Thursday afternoon! Heavy rains in southeast Iowa are finally dissipating after as much as locally 10″ of rain! Most of the region is dry as of now, but changes are on the way. A couple of disturbances bring locally strong storm and heavy rain threats tonight – especially across portions of Minnesota and Wisconsin. An approaching cold front brings a severe storm threat in the western and northern Plains Friday, with this front becoming nearly stationary through the weekend. We expect heavy rains to set-up along this boundary which will lead to flooding concerns through early next week. Areas further southeast stay mainly dry underneath an upper-level ridge. In the video below we discuss the latest data coming in regarding timing/placement of storms through the weekend. Have a great afternoon, and let us know if you have any questions!
