Missouri Forecast: Big temperature transition Thursday….targeting freezing drizzle risk. N.

Video:

Mild weather expected today with areas of drizzle possible.  A strong cold front will move into the state Thursday.  Showers will increase Thursday morning, then expect a very sharp temperature drop through the day from west to east.  The rain will switch to freezing drizzle during the day into the night.  Not expecting significant icing, but a general glaze of ice to cause very slick roadways is the biggest concern:

The front will slow down with eastward progression Thursday night in response to another wave of low pressure forming to the south.  This will mean the freezing rain concern will linger longer over southeast Missouri and especially the boot heel.  This could end as a touch of snow.

Check out the dramatic drop in temperatures west to east tomorrow.  Watch for roads to ice up and become slick!

The trends for the secondary storm  on Friday we discussed yesterday is for it to track further east, meaning less impact for the area. The area we need to watch closely is the far southeast portion of the state into the boot heel for more prolonged precipitation Thursday night lingering into the first half of Friday.
