Iowa/Missouri Forecast: Wave of snow showers later today…..watching potential for freezing rain Sunday. N.

Video:

Watching a disturbance which will bring a stripe of light snow to central Iowa into northeast Missouri this afternoon through tonight:

Snowfall potential through Friday morning.  A swath of 0.5″ to locally 1″ from central Iowa into northeast Missouri.

Temperatures remain frigid through Saturday…especially over Iowa where a snowpack is present:

Watching Sunday for precipitation to move across the area.  It appears the northern half of Iowa may get spared from most of the moisture…while the southern half of Iowa and all of Missouri have a good chance of precipitation.  Mixed precipitation and freezing rain will be the biggest concern as warmer air moves in aloft over our cold ground.  If you have travel plans Sunday, stay tuned to the forecast as we fine-tune the details.

Indications that a stronger storm system may impact the central Plains mid to late next week.  Certainly a more active pattern setting up.
