Key Points – Monday, July 10, 2017:
Synopsis: Good Monday morning! In today’s video we discuss the very busy week with many opportunities for heavy rain and storms, some being strong to severe at times as well, similar to what we are waking up to this morning. It’ll be warm week as well, especially west, and humid too…we like to call these conditions “soupy”. If you have any questions with the forecast please don’t hesitate to reach out, we know it’s a very complicated set-up. Have a blessed day!
Current Radar:
Today’s strong storm risk area, we time everything out in the video, we expect additional storms to redevelop later this afternoon into this evening that have the potential to be strong and heavy in nature.
Getting into Tuesday, we think this certainly has potential to be upgraded to a slight risk for strong storms across the Midwest:
Our second piece of energy moves in Tuesday during the pre-dawn hours as noted below and another piece of energy that we are concerned with additional heavy rainfall during the afternoon/evening hours…it’s a high-risk mention, but we wanted to make sure to cover all of our basis.
Strong storm risk on Wednesday…I think we are on wave number 4? Additional heavy rain possible here as well.
Wednesday energy will roll through the northern extent of the Midwest.
Here’s our latest thoughts on rainfall over the next 3 days…no model is going to nail this pattern, so make sure to watch the video for more in-depth analysis. Certainly localized areas of 3-5″+ on the table here as we have up to 4-5 waves of storms to move through mid-week.
Wind forecast into mid-week:
Temperatures here as well will be quite warm especially in western locations:
Dew points from normal show the elevated humid conditions persisting into mid-week as well:
Confidence:
- Above average confidence that very heavy rainfall and storms will be possible across portions of the Midwest into mid-week.
- Lower confidence in exactly where the heaviest of the rainfall will be located as our data is fairly variable, but we think 3-5″+ in spots are on the table.
- Above average confidence it’ll be a warm and humid week ahead with elevated dew points.
