#ILwx #INwx #OHwx #KYwx Heavy rains/strong storms possible getting into late wk. K.

Key Points – Wednesday, June 21, 2017:

Synopsis: Good Wednesday morning! Heavy rainfall certainly on the table as we get into later this week, strong storms not out of the questions as well. We look to stay dry until this evening as another wave of scattered showers/storms moves south and east. Moving into tomorrow afternoon through Friday we expect to start feeling the effects of tropical storm Cindy colliding with a cold front…heavy rainfall will be possible especially south of I-70. A cooler pattern will follow as the cold front swings through, it’ll be a very comfortable weekend into next week! Have a blessed day!

Watching for storms to pop along a boundary ~4-5pmEDT moving to the south and east around I-70…expecting these storms to diminish as the sun sets.

By 1-2pmEDT Thursday, rain and storms starting to fill in across the southern parts of the forecast area…by Friday morning ~7-8am watching for heavy rainfall to start moving through as Tropical Storm Cindy collides with a cold front sweeping through.

Total rainfall forecast through the next 60 hours…from I-70 south I think we are in the 1-4″ category when this is all said and done:

Strong storm risks Thursday into Friday…we do have a risk for isolated damaging winds/hail…can’t rule out a brief spin-up tornado as the front moves through.

Current Wind forecast over the next 4 days:

Current temperature forecast over the next 4 days…much cooler getting into the weekend:

Current dew points from normal over the next 4 days:

Looking more and more like it’ll be a very nice weekend ahead…here’s a look at rainfall totals over the next 10 days, however, which suggests the activity does pick back up into next week.

Confidence:

  • Average confidence scattered showers and storms work their way in from northwest to south-east later this afternoon into tonight…dying by sundown.
  • Average confidence additional storms fire tomorrow afternoon through Friday as tropical storm Cindy collides with a cold front, bringing heavy rainfall and potential strong storms.
  • Above average confidence a cooler pattern works in this weekend into next week.
