Friday (6/30) Updated Reds Forecast

Synopsis:  Good Friday morning!  Another warm and humid day on the way, with thunderstorm chances increasing over the next 24 hours.  A cold front will move through Saturday evening, paving the way for a very nice Sunday with lower humidity.

TODAY:  Scattered thunderstorms will develop as we go throughout the afternoon with coverage ~50%.  Winds will be out of the southwest between 10-25mph.  Highs will reach the middle 80s.  As mentioned yesterday, we are watching a piece of energy that will move in from the west tonight.  Timing is critical here, but the guidance generally holds off the main cluster of storms until after 11pm.  Scattered storms will be in the forecast during the game, but the highest coverage looks to move in later.  Overall, right now the thinking is ~30-40% threat of a scattered storm during game-time.

There will also be the risk for a few severe thunderstorms tonight.  The NOAA Storm Prediction Center has placed Cincinnati under the SLIGHT risk for severe storms.  Damaging wind gusts will be the biggest concern along with the threat for some hail.  Heavy rainfall can also be expected.

SATURDAY: We should see lower storm coverage heading into Saturday morning once the complex of storms moves to our east.  We will still have a cold front off to our west that will move through the region Saturday afternoon.  Expect scattered thunderstorms to be around from the morning through mid-afternoon, but it will not be a washout.  Latest data shows storm coverage will be on a diminishing trend from mid-afternoon and onward, as the cold front moves into the area.  We cannot rule out a few scattered showers or storms especially at the beginning of the game, but overall the forecast is looking pretty good.   Winds through the day will shift around from a southwesterly direction to more westerly throughout the game.

Sunday: Mostly sunny skies are in the forecast for Sunday, along with a drier air mass filtering into the region.  Should be a great day!!

If you have any questions about the forecast, be sure to let us know.  Have a great day!
