#AGwx #NDwx #SDwx #WIwx #MNwx Warm Week Ahead With Spotty Storms. Details Here! E.

Key Points: June 5, 2017

Synopsis: Good Monday morning! The weather this week will be quite warm and relatively quiet thanks to an upper level ridge of high pressure. With that said, a few weak disturbances will push through, leading to scattered storm threats mid week and then again closer to the weekend. The pattern will shake up next weekend into next week, likely leading to cooler, more active conditions. In the video, I’ll get into more specifics regarding timing of storms and the possibility of the cool down in week 2 and beyond. Have a blessed day!

  • The pattern this week will be driven by an upper level ridge of high pressure, leading to warm conditions with spotty storms possible.

  • Over the next days, winds will be strongest west. Here’s a look at the forecast through Thursday. If you have any specific questions, don’t hesitate to reach out!

  • A few weak disturbances look to move through the region today into Tuesday. This will lead to spotty storms this afternoon and evening west, then tomorrow afternoon and night across the eastern Dakotas.

  • Rainfall will be very storm dependent, going from nothing to a few inches possibly over a very short distance.

  • Temperatures will be warm to hot this week, averaging 8-15 degrees above normal west and 4-8 degrees above normal east.

  •  By the weekend, a new pattern looks to set in. Note a trough of low pressure moving into the ridge to the east. This will lead to additional rain chances which I explain in the video.

  • This active regime is shown well in precipitation forecasts. Notice the above normal signal in week 2. This likely comes with a return toward normal temperatures for mid June as well.

Confidence and Risks:

  • Above average confidence in warm to hot conditions this week with spotty storm chances.
  • Average confidence in storm placement and timing through this week.
  • Increasing confidence in a more active pattern developing in week 2 along with a return to normal temperatures.
