9-8-19 South Dakota: Short Term Update Through Tomorrow Afternoon.V.

Good Sunday evening!

A look at current radar shows that we are dry across the Dakota’s with the closest rain in NW IA and NE WY:

Working into the rest of the overnight and into tomorrow AM, we think this dry time changes as we are watching for some scattered showers and thunderstorms to work their way form S to N across the state. We think that pre-dawn these pockets of precip can be a little more scattered before becoming a little more organized and and stronger as we work later into the morning  and early PM. Below is simulated radar from 2 AM CT until 12 PM CT Monday afternoon. We think that the best chances for heavier precip and potentially seeing some stronger storms comes in East Central/ South East SD:

Highs tomorrow look to be in the high 60s/ low 70s for the northern third of the state while the southern portions of SD will be looking at highs in the low to mid 80s:

Precip guidance out though 1 PM CT tomorrow afternoon. We favor the idea of things being on the lighter side the further west you go. We think there is the potential for some localized places picking up 1.0+ inches of rain from this event. There is the potential for some of these storms to be on the stronger side as we progresss later into Monday, damaging winds and hail being the two main threats. Like always, precipitation guidance images should not be taken verbatim as they are used more for general ideas and not exact placement:
