Video:

Good morning! It has been an absolute deluge across the Cincinnati area with rounds of heavy rain from the remnants of Gordon working into the area. A pre-existing frontal boundary is also not helping the situation either. Expect additional rounds of heavy rains to continue through the day into tomorrow. Flooding is on the table.

Flash Flood Watches remain in effect for the greater Cincinnati area. Warnings will likely expand in coverage today and tonight.

The Weather Prediction Center is highlighting Cincinnati for a moderate risk of excessive rainfall today. This is definitely not an event to take lightly! Very heavy rainfall that will lead to flooding is likely through Sunday.

Simulated radar through 7pm CDT this evening: The remnants of Gordon will continue to plague the area with heavy doses of rain through the day today. There could be a few brief lulls during the morning hours but any lulls in activity will likely fill in across southwestern OH as the surface low pressure system tracks closer to the area. The heaviest batch of rain (within close proximity to the surface low pressure system) will begin to work into the western suburbs on Cincinnati by 8pm EDT this evening. This will definitely not be a good day for baseball. While not a large threat, we can’t rule out a brief spin-up or two given the natural spin of Gordon. Temperatures during this afternoon’s game will likely only be in the upper 60s with our high possibly not reaching 70ºF due to the influx of moisture in the area.

Simulated radar from 7pm CDT this evening through 1am CDT Monday: Heavy rains will continue to lift eastward across the area through the nighttime hours, with a gradual decline in coverage expected west to east during the day Sunday. By the start of Sunday’s afternoon game, a large sum of the heavy rains will be off to the east, but lingering areas of showers and even a few storms may continue to cause headaches during game time.  Some broken storms will also fire on the southern periphery of these remnants Sunday afternoon, bringing the threat for continued flooding as well as gusty winds and hail to southern OH before these storms work out during the evening hours. Most shower and storm activity will clear the Cincinnati area Sunday evening and night, though a few lingering showers may persist. Temperatures likely won’t be much higher than today, with a high temperature possibly slipping past 70ºF during the latter portions of the game.

Latest rainfall guidance through 1pm CDT Monday: This map was taken from an earlier IN/IL post. Several additional inches of rain is likely! Please heed all warnings issued as flooding will be likely!

Winds will be strong during the games today and tomorrow in association with our disturbance. Wind gusts of 25-40 mph will be prevalent across the area with a gradual subsiding off winds from southwest to northeast Sunday night into Monday.
