Good Saturday Evening!
A current look at radar shows that we are watching some rain work across much of ND and bleeding South into SD with only scattered showers in SD:
For the rest of the evening and into the overnight, we are watching for this rain to linger around and gradually work off to the east. This is a slower moving system, but our lack of energy is allowing this precip to come in the form of stratiform rain rather than thunderstorms. A weak storm in S SD can’t be 100% ruled out, but is not extremely likely. This is what radar could look like from 9 PM CT this evening until 7 AM CT tomorrow morning. We agree that the bulk of the rain should continue to shift east as the night progresses:
Highs tomorrow look to stay in the low to mid 60s across much of the Dakotas. There may even be a few places that do not get out of the 50s:
Working into the day tomorrow, we think that we can see some drier weather. Looking at sim radar from 7 AM CT tomorrow morning until 7 PM CT tomorrow evening, we think we generally see a less active day than today. There can be some leftover, lingering showers in the Eastern half of South Dakota/ SE ND, but overall we think much of the Dakota’s is on the drier side of things for Sun. As we go into tomorrow evening, we will have to watch our next wave of rain that we can see creeping in from the south that can be seen towards the end of the loop here:
A look at precip guidance out through 7 PM CT tomorrow evening. We think this model may be too strong on precip totals in SD and underdone in SE ND, but favor the overall lighter totals as this is more of a light to moderate, widespread rain rather than isolated hit and miss storms. A general 0.1 to 0.5 inches can be expected:
