9-4-18 Northern Plains: Very heavy rain and flooding threat today in SE South Dakota and S. Minnesota. B.

Today’s Video:

Good Tuesday morning everyone! Heavy rain is ongoing in Eastern Minnesota right now with showers and storms also in SE SD and S. MN. A rogue storm is ongoing in South-Central ND and will continue to push east this morning:

Rain will really crank up as we work into the afternoon and evening/overnight hours. Forcing is most supportive for a very heavy rain risk in SE Minnesota. Flash flood watches are in effect for those areas:

Here’s a look at the simulated radar into 10PM tonight. Note how rain intensity really picks up in the late evening hours:

Rain continues overnight especially in SE Minnesota. These areas could pick up 1.5-3″ of rain and localized pockets of 3-6″ of rain:

Rain should work off to the south and east by mid-day tomorrow with perhaps just a few isolated lingering showers. The area could even clear out until a scattered shower and storm threat develops for Northern North Dakota overnight Thursday and Friday:

The next good chance likely comes late Saturday and Sunday with a line of storms with a front that will push through the area:

Here’s a look at total rainfall from the Euro over the next 7 days. We will need to closely watch Tropical Storm Gordon, but we’re leaning towards it just missing the area to the Southeast as of now.

Some milder temperatures behind the front likely tomorrow with additional lows into the mid-low 40s possible overnight tomorrow.

Here’s a look at dew point and winds over the next 4 days:

Here’s a look at your city charts for the next 10 days in Bismarck, Pierre, Sioux Falls and Minneapolis:
