Missouri Video:
Kansas/Nebraska Video:
Flash Flood Watches in effect through noon today across central Kansas to southeast Nebraska for heavy rain potential on top of saturated soils:
Simulated radar guidance today into Wednesday as the heavy rainfall continues in bursts. Need to watch northern Kansas, southern Nebraska and NW Missouri tonight for a potential flash flooding and very heavy rainfall scenario as discussed in the video. Wednesday the energy shifts south to central/east Kansas and western Missouri, giving Nebraska (esp. north of I-80) a break into mid-week from recent rainfall:
Total rainfall guidance from the HRRR model into mid-day Wednesday…as discussed above, we feel like some heavy rainfall risks of ~1-3″ (pockets of 3-5″ also possible) is on the table across northern Kansas into southern Nebraska and northwestern Missouri overnight tonight into early Thursday. Elsewhere, parts of eastern Nebraska and eastern/southeastern Kansas likely see a total accumulation from now through the same timeframe of similar amounts mentioned above. We feel confident that where the model shows rain, a good base to work off of is ~0.5-1.5″ given the elevated moisture content:
We think there’s a possibility that Tropical Storm Gordon could shift slightly further Northwest, which could have impacts to eastern Kansas, eastern Nebraska and western Missouri locations late week into the weekend…associated with this would be ANOTHER bout of heavy rainfall and possibly flash flooding…need to watch the exact track of this as risk is still high and confidence is still low on placement and timing:
Total rainfall guidance days 1-8 across the Region beyond today’s rain into next week is below…western parts of Nebraska certainly different than east, much drier…most of the rains across western Kansas coming Wednesday night into Thursday. We feel most confident with additional heavy rainfall across southern/eastern Nebraska as well as the eastern half of Kansas and western half of Missouri for a base of 1-3″ for most areas, however, some localized pockets of 3″+ can’t be ruled out:
Forecast temperatures over the next 10 days: Rain keeps temperatures pleasant for most, with the exception across Missouri where temperatures really heat up out ahead of the rain that moves southeast later in the week.
