Good morning everyone! We are tracking a swath of light rains across southwestern SD and even some snow noted in the Blackhills as of 7:55am CDT. The snows in the Blackhills will end over the next few hours with light rains working west to east across the far southern portions of the area today.
Here’s a look at simulated radar through 7pm CDT this evening: The wave of rain/snow showers impacting southern SD will progress west to east through the day with most areas dry by mid-afternoon. The far southern row of MN may get clipped by these showers.
Simulated radar from 4am CDT Saturday through 7am CDT Sunday: An additional wave of light showers will work west to east across ND during the day Saturday, bringing light shower/drizzle risks to MN and eastern SD as well. An even weaker wave will progress into the western Dakotas Saturday night into Sunday morning.
Here’s a look at total rainfall through Sunday morning: The best chance for measurable precipitation will be across southwestern SD where an additional 0.1-0.5″ of rain is expected. Elsewhere, showers will be quite light with up to 0.2″ of rain at best.
Sunday night into Monday, more showers will lift into the region with even some snow showers on the northern periphery across northern ND.

Here’s a look at temperatures over the next four days: Widespread frosts and freezes are expected across MN with additional chances for ND and eastern SD Saturday morning. The least amount of cloud cover tonight will be over MN which allows for greater cooling, hence the greater risk.
