9-27-18 Northern Plains: Tracking light scattered rain showers today… frost/freeze risks the next two nights. B.

Today’s Video:

Good Thursday morning everyone! We have a few areas of rain showers working through the area today, with some moderate rain in Minnesota:

Here’s a look at simulated radar throughout the next 36 hours. This morning’s wave will push south and east throughout the day and lead to light rain showers especially in South Dakota and Minnesota before the next wave leads to more moderate rain – and snow in the Black Hills – tonight into tomorrow in Southern South Dakota. We could see some scattered rain and snow showers in E. ND and N. MN tonight into tomorrow morning:

Here’s a look at total precipitation by Friday night:

Can’t rule out a few light showers pushing from SW SD into North Dakota/West Minnesota on Saturday, but not looking to have a big impact. The bigger story will be the very cool overnight low temperatures the next two nights. Areas that can clear tonight will have a good shot at dropping below freezing:

Here’s a look at total precipitation through the next 5 days:

A system will work into the area as we head into late Sunday and Monday. This will lead to an increase in rain chances especially for SE Minnesota with light rain further north… cannot rule out some mix of snow in NW North Dakota Sunday night.
