9-24-18 Kansas/Missouri Forecast: Scattered showers increase through Tuesday…quiet mid-week. I.

Today’s Video:

Good morning everyone! The only area to note regarding rainfall across the area is in far southern MO where a boundary continues to impact. Most rains, though scattered, will remain across far southern MO through the day today before a disturbance from the northwest begins to drop southeastward and bring shower and isolated storm activity to northern KS this evening into tonight. Areas of showers and storms will also lift northward across MO tonight. During the day Tuesday, areas of showers and storms will work across Central KS and into MO. There is a risk for some stronger storms across eastern and southern MO during the evening hours with damaging winds and large hail the main threats. We can’t rule out an isolated tornado or two as well. Storm activity will exit Kansas shortly after 12am CDT Wednesday with most of MO clear (with the exception being the southern third) by 7am CDT Wednesday (end of the loop below).

Total rainfall through 7am CDT Wednesday: A large sum of the rains will be focused across southern/southeastern MO through this timespan where a general 0.25-0.75″ of rain with localized 1-2″+ possible where the heavier storms develop and track. Many areas across KS, especially the western portions, will receive little to no rain.

Here’s a look at the 7-day rainfall from the European Model: Rains will clear out of the area during the day Wednesday with drier weather expected afterwards. However, rain chances will increase again across the northern areas Friday.

High temperatures over the next four days: Temperatures will drop into mid-week with the passage of a cold front.

Low temperatures over the next four days: Overnight lows in the 60s to lower 70s will be common Tuesday morning across southeastern KS into MO.

Dew point temperatures over the next four days: More humid air will be draped across most areas today with humidity levels dropping as the front passes through Tuesday into Wednesday.

Wind guidance over the next four days: Winds will gust to 25-30 mph as the cold front drops through the region Tuesday.

High/low temperatures over the next 15 days for Columbia, Springfield, Topeka and Dodge City: Please note that this is an ensemble which averages/smoothes these numbers.
