Good morning everyone! There is an area of rain impacting northwestern NE as of 8:30am CDT. These rains will progress eastward with most rain chances remaining across northern/western NE today. Heading into the evening areas, some shower activity is likely across NE and northwestern IA with more storms entering western NE. Between 5am-2pm tomorrow is the timeframe for the best chance of showers and storms across NE. IA will feel more impacts from showers and storms late tonight into the day Tuesday before most areas of convection exit the area Tuesday evening. There could be a few stronger storms across eastern IA tomorrow given the dynamics but the better threat will remain just off to the east. Simulated radar through 7am CDT Wednesday:
Total rainfall through 7am CDT Wednesday: Overall, 0.25-0.75″ of rain is likely across southeastern NE into IA with locally higher amounts possible. Another area of 0.25-0.75″ of rain is possible in northwestern NE with the rains today and tonight.
Here’s a look at the 7-day rainfall from the European Model: Rains will clear out of the area Tuesday night with most of the area dry into Wednesday. However, rain chances will increase this weekend again, especially across eastern NE into IA.
High temperatures over the next four days: Temperatures will drop into mid-week with the passage of a cold front.
Low temperatures over the next four days: Overnight lows in the 40s and 50s expected for most areas except eastern IA today. Frost risks are on the table across NE and western IA Wednesday morning.
Dew point temperatures over the next four days: More humid air will be draped across eastern NE and IA today with humidity levels dropping as the front passes through Tuesday into Wednesday.
Wind guidance over the next four days: Winds will gust to 25-30 mph as the cold front drops through the region Tuesday.
