9-21-18 Kansas/Missouri Forecast: Lingering rains in southern MO this weekend…dry for many elsewhere. Details here! I.

Today’s Video:

Good morning everyone! The cold front has shifted south overnight into this morning with lingering showers and storms just south of the KS/OK border and into the southern third of MO as of 9:40am CDT. The best focus for rains over the next 72 hours will likely focus across the southern third of MO.

Simulated radar through 7am CDT Sunday: Showers and storms will persist across southern MO and southeastern KS today with most of KS clearing out overnight but with shower chances continuing across southern MO. Showers will continue even into Saturday in similar locations. Even into Sunday, there will be some lingering showers and perhaps a couple storms in far southern MO but this convection will finally work out as Sunday progresses.

Rainfall through the next 72 hours which is a good blend of all the high-resolution models: There will be a sharp cut-off to the north with most rainfall staying pretty far south along the southern two rows of counties in MO. 1-3″ of rain is expected across the Bootheel of MO through this timespan.

Here’s a look at total rainfall over the next 7 days, depicting a majority of the heavy rains clipping the southern portions of MO. However, this model is likely overdone on rainfall amounts in southeastern MO as the model is likely experiencing convective feedback issues. A couple fronts (one Tuesday and another Friday) will bring scattered chances to rain elsewhere across KS and other portions of MO. Rain amounts of 0.5-1″ over the next week will be common for most areas with amounts of 2-3″+ more likely across far southeast MO.

High temperatures over the next four days:

Low temperatures over the next four days:

Dew point temperatures over the next four days: Lower humidity levels will remain across a majority of the area (exception being far southern areas) until more humid air lifts northward Sunday and especially Monday.

Wind guidance over the next four days:

High/low temperatures over the next 15 days across Kansas and Missouri  Please note that this is an ensemble which averages/smoothes these numbers.
