Good Friday Morning!
Here your latest video update:
A look at rainfall over the past 24 hours:
Rainfall over the past 72 hours (from Tue 9 AM CT out to Fri 9 AM CT). Everyone has seen rain with most paces picking up over an inch- some spots going over 6 inches during this time in SE SD:
Today we are expecting a much different day than what we have been seeing for much of this past week. We think that there will be some lingering showers in NE MN as the rest of the day goes on, but there is not any instability so these look to just stay as showers. The rest of the Northern Plains looks to stay pretty dry:
Going forward to Saturday, we see a pretty small chance of showers working across ND and working into the Northern half of MN. This is associated with an upper level wave that has limited moisture so chances are pretty isolated and totals are not looking that impressive. Here is sim radar from Midnight Saturday until 5 PM CT Sat evening:
We will need to keep an eye on some development Saturday night and overnight into Sunday in Southern MN. We could spark some development south of Minneapolis with some very isolated severe storms possible, something that could need an update tomorrow. The rest of the Plains is dry and we think this dryness will continue into our Sunday. Simulated radar from 7 PM CT Sat evening until 7 AM CT Sun morning:
Working into next week, we think that our next best shot at rain will come on Wednesday as Sun, Mon, and Tue look pretty dry. A look at precip from 7 AM Sun until 7 AM Wed:
Precip totals out through 7 PM CT Sunday evening. We can see our leftover showers today in NE MN, a very weak wave of precip working across ND and N MN that shouldn’t accumulate to much, and then some potential storms Sat night into the overnight Sunday morning in S MN:
