9-12-19 Northern Plains: Another active weather day – drying trend for Friday with a brief surge of summer early next week. N.

Video:

Rain observed over the past 48 hours:

Another active weather day with south/southeast Minnesota counties to get heavier storms capable of damaging winds, isolated tornadoes, and hail.  2-7pm is the main threat time-frame.

Additional rain totals through Friday afternoon:

Showers exit most of the area tomorrow, with skies clearing from southwest to northeast during the day.  A quieter pattern for the most part through the first part of next week, but in the video we discuss the risk for a few severe storms in southeast South Dakota/southern Minnesota Saturday afternoon-evening.  Next best chances for the area as a whole come mid to late next week.

Wind forecast over the next 4 days: Staying wind today and Friday!  Winds relax quite a bit this weekend!

Get ready for a brief but strong surge of summer warmth early next week (Sunday-Tuesday).  We look to turn sharply cooler later next week.
