8-8-19 Nebraska: Locally heavy rain possible today (especially west)…discussing storm cluster risks into the weekend. K.

Today’s video:

Observed rainfall over the past 24 hours:

Simulated radar guidance for this afternoon into the overnight is below…as we mentioned in the video above we think things can respark along the frontal boundary from Scottsbluff to North Platte to Lincoln after 2pm local, some of these being locally heavy and strong in nature. After about 5-6pm the risk shifts mostly to areas to the west with a continued strong storm threat including damaging winds and large hail at times:

Total rainfall guidance through Friday morning is below…the central slice of the state from North Platte to Lincoln will host the risk to see a few locations getting a quick 0.25-0.75″ (locally higher of 1-2″ possible)…and then areas west between Scottsbluff to North Platte will see fairly widespread 0.5-1.5″ (localized 2-3″ as well in spots):

We also mentioned in the video that we are still seeing good support for a storm cluster Saturday night into the overnight Sunday morning across central to southern Nebraska. We still need to fine-tune the exact timing and amounts, but generally think the risk increased between North Platte to O’neil down to Lincoln and points south after about 5-6pm Saturday night moving west to east. Risks are increased also here for damaging winds, large hail and locally heavy rainfall:
