8-7-18 Northern Plains: Rain showers in Southern Minnesota this morning… dry, hot pattern develops into next week. B.

Today’s Video:

Good Tuesday morning everyone! We have an area of rain showers that is persisting in SW Minnesota this morning. These likely persist into the mid-day and slowly push off to the east into SE and Eastern Minnesota:

The HRRR shows the idea of rain continuing east but weakening slightly throughout the day. Note, some additional storms could develop in SE MN today and a few very isolated showers/storm could pop up especially in the Eastern Dakotas and far Western Minnesota this afternoon/evening:

Here’s a look at additional rainfall through midnight:

As skies clear overnight, we could see some areas of fog develop in SE Minnesota tomorrow morning:

A weak wave of energy will work into the area tomorrow morning. This could spawn a few light scattered showers in NE Minnesota and perhaps a 10% chance of a pop up storm especially in Eastern Minnesota tomorrow afternoon:

The biggest story will be the heat that will start to build in throughout the week. Widespread 90s likely especially for the Dakotas as we head into the tomorrow and into the weekend:

Here’s a look at dew point over the next 4 days:

Here’s a look at winds the next 4 days:

Overall, many areas stay completely dry over the next 7 days. The Euro hints at a front moving in the end of day 7 and into next Tuesday and Wednesday, but other than the rain this morning, not seeing a widespread rain threat throughout the next week (note some of this includes overnight/morning rainfall in SE SD and SW/Central Minnesota):

Here’s a look at the 10 day temperature, precipitation and wind forecast chart from the European model for Minot, Bismarck, Dupree and Minneapolis:
