Good Tuesday Evening!
A look a the latest radar image shows that we have some stronger storms in the Northern quarter of the state:
We think that these cells can stay on the stronger side of things for the next few hours before slowly losing some steam as they work to the SE. Below is a simulated radar loop from 9 PM CT tonight until 7 AM CT tomorrow morning:
Tomorrow looks to bring high’s in the low to mid 70s for the northern half of the state and highs in the upper 70s/low 80s for the southern half of the state:
Tomorrow looks to be dry for much of the state after that area of precip works its way out of the state in the morning. We are watching for two potential areas precip, one coming in West Central MN and the other coming in far SE MN. The precip in West Central MN looks to be on the lighter side of things and does not look to hold much of a severe threat. The precip in SE MN toward the later evening hours looks like it holds the possibility of having some strong to severe storms. We do want to mention that there is a risk with this precip in SE MN as not all data is on board with this thought. We do think the potential is certainly there, however details will have to be fine tuned tomorrow. Below is a simulated radar loop from 1 PM CT tomorrow until 7 PM CT:
A look at rainfall guidance out through 7 PM CT Wednesday. As mentioned, we think there are three main areas for precip chances tonight and into tomorrow. The first being the heaviest rains that is in N MN right now. This could lay down some heavier totals, 0.5 to 1.5 inches where the heaviest cells set up. The next potential area for precip comes tomorrow afternoon near the MN/SD/ND border where we think we can see some scattered activity that can produce anywhere from 0.25 to 0.5 inches of rain with a few spots potentially being a touch higher. The final spot is in SE MN where we see the potential for stronger cells tomorrow PM/evening. This area does not have as high of confidence due to some data not agreeing with the potential here, but we certainly think the chance is on the table:
