Good Friday morning everyone! We have a few areas of widely scattered showers and storms in the Dakotas and a few storms pushing out of Southern Minnesota this morning.
Storms will begin to pick up this afternoon especially in Central Minnesota where the most favorable ingredients for storm develop will occur. Eventually, a line of storms may form and lead to a damaging wind threat in Southern/Southeastern Minnesota. Any storms that do develop this afternoon and evening, however, could come with a large hail, strong wind and isolated tornado threat.
Here’s a look at the current risk map from the SPC. Currently a slight risk for severe weather due to the uncertainty of the exact evolution of storms especially in Southern Minnesota:
The next storm chance picks up as we work into late Saturday evening and into Sunday with an uptick in activity at first in the Western Dakotas with a more steady rain threat working into SE South Dakota:
