8-31-18 Missouri Forecast: Strong storm/heavy rain risks target northwest areas through the weekend…..pattern remains persistent next week. N.

Video:

Cluster of showers and storms works east and slowly weakens into early afternoon:

Will watch the far northern portions of the state for severe storm risks tonight.  It appears initially, most of the severe storms may develop over Iowa, but storm risks go up in northern Missouri especially beyond midnight into our Saturday morning.

Severe storm outlook for this afternoon/tonight:  Potential for strong to severe storms in northwest areas with hail and wind the main threats, but a tornado or two is possible.

Again Saturday evening and night, need to watch northwest portions of the state for more storm chances.  Questions remain on southern extent, but areas from St. Joseph to Kirksville and northwest need to watch for flash flood potential with repeated rounds of storms.

Rainfall over the next 60 hours:

Rainfall over the next 7 days: (likely underdone in areas, especially north and west).  Certainly a much drier forecast for the central, eastern, and southern areas of the state.
