8-31-18 KS/NE Forecast: Multiple waves of storms into next week. N.

Video:

Radar at 9:30AM CDT: Storms developing around Kearney to near Hasting this morning.  Starting to see a few pockets of hail with this activity as it moves to the northeast around 25-30 mph.

Forecast radar snapshots going throughout the day….watch the video for more information.

Potential for severe storms with wind/hail and isolated tornadoes in eastern parts of the state given a favorable environment, but the question remains how much storm coverage we develop here.  It looks like the greater focus may end up just east.  Still, be aware in these areas that if storms develop they can become severe rather quickly this evening into the overnight.

Rainfall through Saturday morning:

Here is Saturday’s severe storm outlook.  I feel that portions of the “marginal” risk could get upgraded to a slight risk, which I circled in yellow.  Hail/wind biggest threats mainly Saturday evening and overnight.

Rainfall through Sunday morning:

7-Day Rainfall: As discussed in the video, an active pattern ahead with multiple rounds of showers and storms over the next week, specially focusing across northern Kansas to central/eastern Nebraska, where 2-4″ of rain with local 4-8″ is possible.  Meanwhile, areas across northwest Nebraska see little or no rain, and potential for somewhat lower rain totals in southern and southeast Kansas.
