8-30-18 Missouri: Heavy storms impacting south/western areas today…severe threat northwest on Friday…Details here. N.

Video:

Heavy storms working into western portions of the state this morning:

Expecting these storms to continue working east and eventually diving southeast through the day:

0.50″-1.50″ where the rain sets-up, with locally higher amounts.  Not expecting much of any rainfall to the north and east.  Total rainfall through midnight shown below:

On Friday, it’s the northwest portion of the state that will be targeted with 2 rounds of storms, and the potential for severe weather.  All modes of severe weather are possible.  Expect to be waking up to a round of strong storms in the NW late tonight and Friday morning, then another round of potentially stronger storms into the northern parts of the state Friday night.  More details on timing in today’s video.

Rain totals will be heavy Friday across portions of northern/northwest Illinois where locally 1-3″, (locally higher) can fall.

There have certainly been some drier trends for central/eastern/southern portions of the state where a lack of rain is possible over the next 7 days, while the far northern/northwest areas can run into problems with very heavy rain amounts, and the line between wet/dry could be rather extreme.

Working in a warm stretch of temperatures this weekend through next week:
