Today’s video:
Observed rainfall over the past 24 hours was very, very light as we anticipated that it would be, with isolated spots in ND and MN getting 0.1-0.3″:
Most of us stay completely dry again today and mild…however, after about 4-5pm tonight through ~8am east Thursday morning some light showers are possible across northern ND to northern and northeastern MN:
Total rainfall guidance is below through tomorrow morning…again, because we are running into substantial dry air, totals are anticipated to be widespread less than 0.25″ where we see light showers. Again, most of us stay completely dry here through Thursday:
Continued completely dry conditions are anticipated for Thursday underneath stout high pressure…high temps will be in the 60s to 70s across areas to the south…a much cooler on-tap vs today:
Friday into Saturday morning, from west to east, we see a weak wave of precipitation scoot across South Dakota and far southern Minnesota. This rainfall will be scattered and nature, still running into a drier air mass overhead.
Totals will be ~0.1-0.5″ in the southern half of SD, to only ~0.1-0.3″ on average across the southern 2-3 county rows of MN. Areas further north will continue through this very dry, quiet stretch of weather:
It’ll be pretty darn chilly once again into Friday morning…with some spots in Northeast North Dakota and northern Minnesota dipping into the lower 40s to upper 30s especially in valley areas as skies clears and winds are calm:
Labor Day morning through next Tuesday morning will be our next best shot for more widespread rainfall risks across the eastern Dakotas to Minnesota as shown well by the European model here below:
Total rainfall over the next week is below (through next Tuesday) ..where we see rainfall risks, we feel like these areas will see generally 0.25-0.75″…with a few areas possibly on Monday to Tuesday see locally higher…but we don’t anticipate this to be a widespread risk and even think the model shown below is a bit overdone in eastern MN:
