Severe storm risk area for today with details is below…northeastern Iowa the focus this morning with damaging winds and large hail…additional strong to severe storms build into the area this afternoon into the evening from SW to NE. The areas most susceptible look are colored in the yellow and orange, with the risks for damaging winds, large hail, heavy rainfall/localized flash flooding and isolated tornadoes:

Total rainfall guidance over the next 60 hours via the NAM-3km model…favoring eastern Kansas, central/eastern Iowa and a good portions of Missouri for a base of 0.5-1.5″, however, localized 2-3″ even isolated higher cannot be ruled out given the elevated moisture content and impressive upper-level jet stream pumping in today into tonight. A much quieter pattern with little to no rainfall is expected across much of Nebraska and the western 2/3rds of Kansas:
